Stepping in Sequins is a Latin dance school aimed at beginners through to competition and professional level dancers. We pride ourselves in maintaining small class sizes which enables us to provide individual feedback to our students, as well as imparting proper technique and dance skills.


Stepping in Sequins was started in mid-2015 by Kelsy Luengen. Since then, the Stepping in Sequins team has performed and competed at events all around Australia and internationally,  including representing at the The Summit Championships (USA), Salsa in Hawaii, the Australian Salsa Solo Competition, Byron Latin Fiesta, , Bailando Sensual Festival, the Australian Dance Cup, and Sydney Latin Festival! 


Stepping in Sequins has performed extremely well in competitions around Australia and internationally! The Sequins team competed at The Summit Championships 2024 (USA) and are current World Champions for:

  • Pro/Am Mixed Gender Cha Cha Cha Shines Team

  • Pro/Am Mixed Gender Bachata Shines Team

  • Amateur Intermediate Cha Cha Cha Solo 

  • Masters over 50 Cha Cha Cha Solo

  • Masters over 50 Bachata Solo 

  • Semi-Pro Males Cha Cha Cha Solo

  • Pro/Am Intermediate Cha Cha Cha Duet

  • Pro/Am Masters over 50 Cha Cha Cha Duet

  • Pro/Am Masters over 50 Bachata Duet

  • Pro/Am Youth Teens Cha Cha Cha Duet


Plus the Sequins are Australian champions for:

  • Pro-Am Bachata Duet ( WWS 2021)

  • Pro-Am Bachata Freestyle (ADC 2019)

  • Masters shines team division (WWS 2018)

  • Masters' Solo Latin Shines (ADC 2017)

  • Masters Pro-Am Duets (ADC 2017)


Stepping in Sequins has also placed in the top three with different competitors at various competitions internationally and nationally, including placing in the youth, masters, amateur, semi-pro, and open divisions in the styles of Bachata, Salsa, Cha Cha Cha, and Latin fusion divisions! ​

We offer choreographies and workshops for Salsa, Bachata, Cha Cha Cha, Samba and Latin fusion. Classes cover partnered dances, shines teams and ladies only groups for all levels including masters and youth too!

Kelsy Luengen:

Director and Head Instructor

Kelsy is a multi-time Australian and World dance champion with over 17 years of dance experience and over 15 years of experience in Latin dance styles! Kelsy has taught all around Australia, and in 2020 she made her international teaching debut at the Salsa in Hawaii Congress!


Kelsy has almost 15 years of coaching and teaching experience including adapting teaching pedagogies to cater for youths, adults and persons with disabilities. She started Stepping in Sequins with the belief that anyone and everyone can dance!
